Windows Migration Engineer – AWS & Hybrid Cloud Modernisation OUTSIDE IR35

Role Overview

We are seeking experienced Windows Migration Engineers to support large-scale transformation projects migrating enterprise Windows Server workloads into AWS and hybrid cloud environments.

You will deliver discovery, dependency remediation, runbook creation and cutover execution for critical Windows-based services and applications.

Key Responsibilities

• Migrate Windows Server workloads into AWS (EC2, FSx, RDS SQL Server, AD, IAM/Identity integrations, etc.).
• Remediate legacy Windows applications, OS constraints, compatibility issues and dependency chains.
• Produce detailed runbooks, test plans, sequencing and rollback procedures.
• Support cutover weekends and scheduled outage windows.
• Collaborate closely with network, storage, database and cloud engineering teams.
• Validate post-migration performance, authentication, connectivity and service behaviour.

Experience Required

• Strong hands-on engineering experience across Windows Server 2012–2022.
• Proven experience migrating Windows workloads to AWS or other cloud platforms at scale.
• Strong understanding of:
  -Active Directory (AD)
  -Group Policy (GPO)
  -DNS / DHCP
  -Windows patching & automation
• Experience troubleshooting authentication, security policies, networking and application permissions during migrations.
• Confidence working in structured, high-pressure migration environments.

Nice to Have

• Experience with AWS migration tooling (SMS, Application Migration Service, DMS for SQL, FSx for Windows).
• Knowledge of Windows clustering, SQL Server migrations or identity federation.
• Exposure to Stromasys or legacy modernisation programmes.
