Job Description

We are seeking a skilled Cyber Security Engineer to join our security and infrastructure team. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining security controls that protect the organisation’s systems, networks, and data. You will work proactively to identify vulnerabilities, strengthen defences, and ensure compliance with modern security frameworks.

This role is ideal for someone with hands-on experience in cyber security engineering, threat prevention, and cloud security, with the ability to collaborate closely with technical teams across the business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Implement and maintain security technologies including firewalls, EDR, SIEM, and identity management systems

  • Perform regular vulnerability scanning and coordinate remediation efforts with IT teams

  • Develop and enhance security policies, standards, and procedures

  • Monitor security alerts and respond to incidents in collaboration with the SOC team

  • Support the implementation of Zero Trust and other modern security architectures

  • Manage identity and access control across cloud and on-prem environments

  • Conduct security assessments on new systems, applications, and services

  • Contribute to security awareness initiatives across the organisation

  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements such as GDPR and ISO 27001

  • Maintain detailed documentation of security configurations and operational processes

Key Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Proven experience as a Cyber Security Engineer or similar technical security role

  • Strong knowledge of firewalls, IDS/IPS, endpoint security, and network protection

  • Experience with SIEM platforms such as Microsoft Sentinel, Splunk, or QRadar

  • Solid understanding of cloud security principles (Azure, AWS, or Google Cloud)

  • Knowledge of vulnerability management tools and secure configuration practices

  • Familiarity with identity and access management (IAM) technologies

  • Strong analytical skills and a proactive approach to threat prevention

Desirable:

  • Industry certifications such as CISSP, CISM, CompTIA CySA+, or Azure Security Engineer

  • Experience with scripting or automation (Python, PowerShell)

  • Understanding of DevSecOps principles and secure CI/CD pipelines

  • Knowledge of container security (Kubernetes, Docker)

  • Experience implementing ISO 27001 or NIST security controls
