Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Network & Security Engineer to support and enhance the organisation’s network infrastructure and security posture. This role involves managing complex network environments, securing critical systems, and ensuring high availability across on-premise and cloud networks. You will work closely with IT, security, and infrastructure teams to deliver robust, scalable, and secure network solutions.

This role is ideal for someone with strong technical expertise in network configuration, firewalls, security controls, and proactive threat mitigation.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design, implement, and maintain secure network infrastructures across LAN, WAN, VPN, and cloud environments

  • Configure and manage firewalls, routing, switching, and wireless technologies

  • Monitor network performance and resolve issues to maintain optimal uptime

  • Conduct regular security assessments and network audits

  • Implement network security best practices including segmentation, access control, and encryption

  • Support the deployment of security tools such as IDS/IPS, endpoint protection, and SIEM integrations

  • Troubleshoot complex network and security issues and provide root-cause analysis

  • Collaborate with cyber security teams to ensure compliance with security policies

  • Maintain documentation for network diagrams, policies, and configuration standards

  • Contribute to network modernisation projects and infrastructure upgrades

Key Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Strong experience with network technologies including Cisco, Juniper, or similar enterprise platforms

  • Proficiency in configuring routing protocols, VLANs, VPNs, and firewall policies

  • Solid understanding of security principles, network defence strategies, and threat prevention

  • Experience with firewall platforms such as Palo Alto, Fortinet, or Cisco ASA

  • Hands-on experience with network monitoring and diagnostic tools

  • Strong troubleshooting skills and the ability to handle complex technical challenges

  • Knowledge of TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, and other core networking concepts

Desirable:

  • Relevant certifications such as CCNA, CCNP, Security+, or Palo Alto PCNSE

  • Experience working with cloud networking on Azure or AWS

  • Familiarity with Zero Trust network architecture

  • Knowledge of automation/scripting (Python, PowerShell, or Ansible)

  • Experience working in enterprise or multi-site network environments
